Overview: Equipping the youth of Colorado with the critical thinking skills necessary to analyze the information, claims, and sources presented to them through traditional and digital media will empower them to make more informed decisions. The basis for this resource bank was developed by a committee created through HB 21-1103 (PDF) which will include classroom resources for K-12, educator professional development, instructional tools for teaching media literacy, and student & parent resources. Social Media and Youth Mental Health: The US Surgeon General's Advisory
This Advisory calls attention to the growing concerns about the effects of social media on youth mental health. It explores and describes the current evidence on
the positive and negative impacts of social media on children and adolescents, some of the primary areas for mental health and well-being concerns, and
opportunities for additional research to help understand the full scope and scale of social media’s impact.
