Charter School Technical Assistance Events

Thank you for visiting our events page. We are pleased that you have an interest in the events that the Schools of Choice Unit offers each year! There are a variety of quality technical assistance and professional development opportunities available to all charter schools operating in the state of Colorado. These events are meant to provide best practices for charter school operations, analyze charter school trends, and identify areas of growth and provide solutions to charter school practitioners in need of optimal support, as it is our goal to help create successful and sustainable charter schools. We hope to see you at one (or many) of our events!

*Please note CCSP Grant recipients must participate in technical assistance events offered by the Schools of Choice Unit as a prerequisite for grant funding.*

Charter School Supporting Events

Many organizations have supporting webinars and resources for the charter community. The Schools of Choice Unit acknowledges that there is a need for charter-specific guidance have therefore compiled events below from various organizations that have offered support. May Events

CCSP All Sub-Grantee Conference Call

Date: Thursday May 19th, 2022

Time: 10:00am-11:30am

Location: Virtual via Zoom Meetings

Details: The fourth and last CCSP sub-grantee convenings offered this year as a convenient opportunity to check-in with the CCSP grant team and fellow grant recipient peers. The call dedicates time for group discussion based on current event topics/issues, Q&A, and CDE guidance and reminders on various grant management practices led by CDE Schools of Choice and Grants Fiscal Management Units. Calls will be held virtually and recorded; sending discussion topics and questions in advance is most welcome.

Authorizers Meeting

Date: Wednesday, May 25, 2022

Time: 9:30pm-3:00pm

Location: Hybrid/Lakewood Public Library Meeting Room, 10200 W 20th Ave, Lakewood, CO 80215

Details: Join the SOC in collaboration with CACSA for the last Quarterly Authorizer Meeting of the 2021-2022 school year. During this meeting you will hear updates from the CDE on the CSP grant. You will hear new CASCA Updates as well as several other topics. We look forward to engaging with you.

Board Fundamentals (Spring)
 

Date: Thursday, May 26th, 2022

Time: 9:00am-11:30am

Location: Virtual via Zoom Meetings

Details: Please join us for Board Fundamentals. This event, which occurs once in the Fall and once in the Spring is designed to provide charter school board members with a clear understanding of charter school board responsibilities. This event also focuses on giving charter school board members with strategies that will strengthen the board and promote strong board governance.

Statewide Business Operations Networking Meeting

Date: Thursday, June 9th, 2022

Details:  Please join us Thursday, June 9th, 2022, for the final Statewide Business Operations Networking Meeting of the 2021-2022 School year. During this quarterly meeting we will provide legislative updates impacting charter school business operations professionals as well as provide updates on the CSP grant.

CDE Spring Equity Convening: Retaining Staff Using People Centric Strategies to Build a Culture of Equity and Belonging

Details:  Please join the Schools of Choice Unit for the Spring Equity Convening, “Retaining Staff Using People Centric Strategies to Build a Culture of Equity and Belonging,” hosted in collaboration with the Colorado League of Charter Schools. Join us for a one day in-person convening bringing together charter school leaders and authorizers to explore how Colorado charter schools are working to retain their diverse teacher workforce. This event will feature a keynote speaker, panel discussion, and breakouts designed to build knowledge and provide opportunities for peer-to-peer collaboration around implementation of teacher retention strategies at the school level as well as authorizer support.
