Sex Discrimination
The purpose of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is to eliminate discrimination on the basis of sex in any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance. Proposed Title IX Rule
On November 29, 2018, Education Secretary DeVos released proposed Title IX rule that was open for public comment for 60 days from the date of publication in the Federal Register.

Notice of Nondiscrimination and Title IX Compliance
The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) as a recipient of Federal financial assistance from the United States Department of Education (USDOE) is subject to the provisions of Title IX. The CDE is committed to a policy of non-discrimination in relation to race, color, sex, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, ancestry, age, marital status or disability in admissions, access to, treatment, or employment in educational programs or activities which it operates.
Designated Title IX Contacts
The U.S. Department of Education's Implementing Regulations 34 C.F.R. Part 106 requires the designation of a responsible employee to:
- coordinate any investigation of any complaint alleging noncompliance with Title IX
- notify all students and employees of the Title IX contact, office address and phone number

Questions and Complaints
Questions regarding Title IX may be referred to either of the designated Title IX contacts listed above or to the Office for Civil Rights. Complaints should be filed with the individual school, district, or institution. However, a complaint may also be filed with the Office for Civil Rights: How to File a Discrimination Complaint.
