Technical Assistance Center
Overview
The Technical Assistance Center (TAC) is housed in the Office of Facility Schools at the Colorado Department of Education (CDE). Established through Senate Bill 23-219, the TAC aims to provide technical assistance to rural or remote schools, districts, and administrative units who serve students with exceptionally severe or specialized needs. Students with exceptionally severe or specialized needs include those who might otherwise attend a day treatment facility for a period of time, have a disability, and/or experience behavior/mental health challenges.
TAC Coordinator
The TAC houses a coordinator who provides the following support:
- Training
- Professional development
- Coaching
- Resource hub for sharing and collaboration between Administrative Units, Facility Schools, School Districts and BOCES.
Training Offered
- Trauma-Informed education
- ABA strategies for the classroom
- Specific mental health or behavioral strategies
- Others as needed
