Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Equity: How One District is Creating Systematic Change and Dismantling the Status Quo at the Policy, School, and Individual Level
Session Description: Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) has been on an eight-year journey (2012-2020) in pursuit of racial equity and academic justice. Eric Moore will walk us through this pursuit of equity which has taken place in the context of declining enrollment, on-going budget reductions, racial unrest and the COVID 19 pandemic. This presentation will take us on that journey by first examining how MPS took a critical look at their policies and practices across human resources, operations, finance, research, evaluation, and accountability; how they took action, in a comprehensive effort, that transformed their district infrastructure; and how they have used implementation and outcome data to inform not only these actions, but next steps. Preliminary data, lessons learned, and an intentional and deliberate eye toward the future will be shared along the way.
Presenter: Eric Moore, Senior Accountability, Research, and Equity Officer for Minneapolis Public Schools
Date: December 11, 2020 from 11am MST
