Welcome to the gifted education section of the CDE website. We hope that at this site, you will find answers to many of your questions and the support you need for working with highly-able students. This office administers the state’s Exceptional Children’s Act (ECEA) for students with exceptional academic potential and abilities. It provides guidance for identification, programming, and accountability for administrative units delivering local gifted programs. A regional (10) system of support and service delivers professional development, technical assistance, and peer collaboration throughout Colorado. Partnerships with gifted education staff, families, organizations, and a State Advisory Committee contribute to implementation design and continued improvements in gifted education.
All Gifted students will accomplish challenging post-secondary work/force goals and become productive, creative citizens capable of succeeding in their area of strength.
Ensure gifted student growth and achievement through systems of support, programming and advocacy.
The Gifted Education Advisory Committee (GE-SAC) is accepting applications for membership openings in Congressional Districts 4 & 7 for community members and district 6 for a parent. Application deadline is March 1, 2019. Visit the Committees and Network page for more information.
