Blended format
This seven-hour training is for Colorado public educators working directly with students with autism.
The Communication Toolkit training is designed to:
- Support understanding of communication in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) including formal and informal measurement of communication abilities.
- Help participants develop a rationale and plan around “where to start” when developing communication systems for students with early emerging communication skills including coaching communication partners for success.
- Discuss Evidence Based Practices (EBPs) and match practice to the characteristics of individual students with ASD.
- Give participants a variety of interventions to support students with ASD in developing a functional communication system.
Course Schedule
This training will be conducted in a hybrid format. Course work will be organized into four self-paced Moodle modules followed by a 5th module which is a 1-hour live virtual Zoom session. Participants must complete all 5 Modules to receive a certificate for 7 CDE hours. Partial credit will not be given.
Round 1 Fall Course Dates
- August 27, 2025: Course Opens
- October 7, 2025: Follow-Up Session 4:00 -5:00pm
- October 8, 2025: Course Closes 6:00pm
Round 2 Spring Course
- January 22, 2026: Course Opens
- March 4, 2026: Follow-Up Session 9:00 -10:00am
- March 5, 2026: Course Closes 6:00pm
Registration
Only register for a single Round. Both Round 1 and Round 2 are exactly the same. Duplicate registrations will not be accepted.
Round 1 Registration will close on August 13, 2025
Round 2 Registration will close on January 8, 2025
