CDE Field Trips - 8/22/24: Adult Services Regional Workshop

Posted 08/22/2024 - 1:31pm

CDE's State Library held the first-ever Adult Services Regional Workshop recently in Grand Junction.

Colorado's State Library recently hosted the first-ever Adult Services Regional Workshop in Grand Junction, led by Director of Library Development Tiah Frankish and Adult Library Services Senior Consultant Cristy Moran. Attendees from across the state came together to learn and share best practices. Tiah and Cristy shared that they led the group in  “seated exercises to stimulate neuroplasticity for aging adults, which provided the perfect opportunity to dance to Huey Lewis and the News.”

In addition to the workshop, Frankish and Moran visited some nearby libraries, including in Basalt, Paonia and Delta.

In Basalt, they toured the facility and noted that the library is doing a nice job promoting the state parks programs and is offering patrons additional camping gear and bird-watching kits. In Paonia, the library is working on its Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math program for kids and movement classes for adults. Delta has a brand new library building after transitioning out of its Carnegie Building last year and will receive an award for its use of innovative spaces at the Colorado Association of Libraries annual conference.
