Credential Delivery

Overview

When your certificate has been approved and issued, you will receive an email from the system with your certificate attached as a PDF. The email that will send the certificate is no-reply@www.colorado.gov, please make sure to add this to your trusted contacts to ensure delivery of your certificate and keeping it from being directed to your junk email folder. CDE no longer offers any hard copy certificates.

The system will send the certificate to the email address you have associated with your eLicensing account. Check your email inbox and junk folders often. CDE will email only the address you have associated with your account. We always recommend a personal email account that you check often. If you need to update your email address, log into your eLicense account and click on the "Change Email/ Password/User ID/ Security Questions" link in the Online Services menu. Do not call CDE for email address updates.

Benefits of the email process include:

  • Credentials are available much quicker — this process eliminates the old three weeks required to print and mail hard copy certificates
  • Cost savings — saves the state (and you) money in printing, mailing costs and staff time
  • Encourages automation — less paper, more timely for employing districts

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How quickly can I view/print my credential after I apply?

A: Applications that are complete (those requiring no follow-up with you by CDE evaluators) will be processed within six weeks.

Q: How can I print another copy?

A: Save the email you receive from us as well as your the PDF of the certificate contained in that email to a file on your computer and print as many copies as you'd like. If you delete your email and the attached PDF without saving a copy, you can request an additional certificate of your valid credential by completing the "Reprint" application available in your eLicense account.

Q: May I request an official hard copy certificate?

A: No. As of July 1, 2015, hard copy certificates are not available.

Q: Will credential information be available to school districts? Can CDE email a link directly to a school district to verify an active credential?

A: Credential information is available publicly on the Public Educator Lookup. CDE is unable to email or send a link on your behalf to a school district. If your district still requires a hard copy of your certificate, you'll need to print a copy of your credential and submit it to them.
