Charter School Technical Assistance Events

Thank you for visiting our events page. We are pleased that you have an interest in the events that the Schools of Choice unit are offering this year! The Schools of Choice unit provides a variety of quality technical assistance and professional development opportunities to all charter schools in the state of Colorado. These events are meant to provide best practices for charter school operations, analyze charter school trends, and identify areas of growth and provide solutions to charter school practitioners.  Receive optimal support, as it is our goal to help create successful and sustainable charter schools. We hope to see you at one of our events!

*Please note CCSP Grant recipients must participate in technical assistance events offered by the Schools of Choice Division as a prerequisite for grant funding.*

Charter School Supporting Events

Many organizations have supporting webinars and resources for the charter community. The Schools of Choice Unit acknowledges that there is a need for charter specific guidance and therefore, we have compiled events below from various organizations that have offered support. August Events

*Accelerated by Design Overview (Hosted by The Collaborative for Exceptional Education)

Date: Thursday, August 13th
Time: 1:00pm - 2:30pm
Details: Transitioning to online last spring created a wide range of gaps in our students. To accelerate our students' learning to address both skill gaps and teach new content, educators will need to employ strategic instructional approaches. This session provides an overview that will act as an introduction to the Accelerated by Design series.   
 

*Quality Indicators of Online Service Delivery (Hosted by The Collaborative for Exceptional Education)

Date: Tuesday, August 18th
Time: 1:00pm - 3:30pm
Details: Special Educators will likely be asked to provide service delivery at some point throughout the year, and we cannot loose sight of the quality programming our students need. Join this free offering to learn about what quality looks like in a virtual service delivery and receive resources to help you develop and deliver online services. .   
 

*SPED Leader Cohort (Hosted by The Collaborative for Exceptional Education)

Date: Starts Tuesday, August 25th
Time: 3:30pm - 5:30pm
Details: With the many unknowns of the start of this school year, The Collaborative has created a free SPED Leader Cohort to provide a space for thought-partnership, resource sharing, and collaborative thinking to support our teachers during this time.  .   
 

*Rookie SPED Teacher Cohort (Hosted by The Collaborative for Exceptional Education)

Date: Starts Saturday, August 29th
Time: 9:00am - 11:00am
Details: Are you lacking coaching and support for your newly hired special education teachers? Do you want additional support in the areas of case management, instruction and compliance? The Collaborative is offering a free year long cohort to provide teachers with ongoing training on best practices.. .   
 

September Events

Administrator Mentoring Cohort

Date: Wednesday, September 2nd 
Time: TBD
Details: The Administrator Mentoring Cohort (AMC) is designed to build leadership capacity among new charter school administrators and those aspiring to be charter school administrators. Building administrators’ skills and capacity positively affects teachers, school culture, school operations, and ultimately student achievement. This program also helps ease feelings of isolation among new leaders by providing a peer network, while enabling mature leaders to develop their mentoring skills. We welcome all of Colorado’s charter school leaders!  
 

2020 Annual Finance Seminar 

Date: Friday, September 25th
Time: 9:00pm - 2:30pm
Details:  The Schools of Choice Unit is hosting its 2020 Annual Finance Seminar, featuring keynote speaker Commissioner Katy Anthes. This seminar will highlight recent legislative updates, discuss educational hot topics and their financial implications, and spotlight financial hot topics of the future. No matter if you are a relatively new charter school or an established charter school, we hope you will join!
