Reimagining Education: Strengthening Universal Supports for All

Session Description: In collaboration with offices across the Colorado Department of Education we are pleased to offer a virtual symposium focused on strengthening prevention efforts at the universal level of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports through Social Emotional Learning, Resilience, Relationships, Self-Care, Equity, Cultural Responsiveness and Trauma-Informed Practices.


Featured Presenters

Tara Brown - “The Connection Coach” will be focusing on relationship-building, resilience, and self-care. Through powerful stories of her time spent both teaching and coaching diverse populations, Tara emphasizes the importance of embracing intentional actions that will inspire and motivate. She is committed to helping strengthen organizations “One connection at a time.” BUCKLE UP....because you are about to get “Tara-Ized!”

Tim Lewis, PhD, Professor, Special Education, University of Missouri; Director, University of Missouri Center for School-wide Positive Behavior Support; Co-director, OSEP Center for PBIS;  Dr. Lewis has been involved in special education for 30 years, including teaching students with emotional and behavioral disorders in high school, elementary, and self-contained psychiatric settings. Dr. Lewis has been involved with developing school-wide systems of behavioral support for over 20 years.

Andratesha Fritzgerald, Andratesha has worked in education for nearly 20 years. As a teacher, curriculum specialist, and district level administrator she has embraced the hard work and heart work of leading and learning. She is an international keynote speaker, award- winning author and inclusive practices implementation consultant. Her new book Antiracism and Universal Design for Learning: Building Expressways to Success (CAST, 2020), is equipping teachers and leaders with the tools they need to make learning personal and possible for every child.

Jen Alexander, M.A., NCC, SB-RPT - As a licensed special education teacher, professional school counselor, trauma expert, author, and leader in the movement to build trauma-sensitive schools, Ms. Jen has more than 20 years of experience providing support to young people and the educators who serve them.
